Search Engine Optimization, Keyword Search Terms, SBC
Yellow Pages, Technical Support
Crossroads strives to stay at the head of the technological curve, rather
than play catch-up after a problem has occurred. We continuously keep you informed on the latest trends and technologies
to keep your network as up-to-date and efficient as possible. The
following networking tip is provided to help make your information system
network more productive and profitable.
Web vs. Yellow Pages: The Power of Optimization
Web sites are replacing the yellow pages as people use search engines
first when looking for companies and services. Google is the most popular
search engine and that is how the term "youve been Googled" has come about
in recent years.
Go to Google and type in your company name and city. I did, and typed in
Crossroads Business Solutions Indianapolis.
Does your company come up at the top of the page? I was surprised to find
out that our company did not show up on the first page of listings. YIKES!
Our clients and partners that listed us on the web sites as a reference
listed ahead of our own company web site.
Advertising costs for the SBC yellow pages cost several hundreds
of dollars a MONTH for a quarter page ad. That was thousands of dollars a year that
we couldnt afford. So what did we do?
We are remedying this terrible situation through the assistance of a
partner firm that is "search engine optimizing" our web site. We will show
at the top of the search engine results pages when somebody types in
"Crossroads Business Solutions" or "XRBS", as well as the most-used keyword
search terms relating to this industry.
This search engine optimization is going to have us show up at the
top of search results pages for key industry phrases, keywords and
keyword terms that our web site
generates, increasing sales opportunities for us. Key industry phrases are; network
support, computer support, network implementation, technical support, etc.
Our partner ran a report that identified the key industry phrases for us,
so we know what people are searching for. We can then show up at the top of
the list when people look for "network support Indianapolis", "network
implementation Fishers", etc.
Now our web site is more than a brochure about us, it is a selling tool
that can pay for itself by helping companies in need find our services.
If you do the test above, and you dont like the results or if you want
to learn more about the power and effects of search engine optimization,
drop me an email and Ill put you in touch with our partner.
